Don’t Let These Myths Scare You Away From the hCG Diet

At New Beginnings Medical, we want to spread as much information about the hCG diet as possible. We firmly believe that the hCG diet is an effective way to lose weight, however, through our experiences with the hCG diet, we have come across quite a few myths that attempt to scare people away from the diet plan. In part one of a two part blog series, we are going to address some of the most common myths that we hear in relation to the hCG diet and explain exactly why they are false. While we aren’t saying that the hCG diet is perfect for everyone, these myths serve no other purpose than to scare people away from a weight loss method that could be beneficial to many others. We hope that by the end of this short blog series, you will come away with a little more knowledge about what is and is not true in relation to the hCG diet.

Myth 1: Your thyroid will be ruined.

One of the most common myths that we hear in relation to the hCG diet is the fact that hCG will wreck a person’s thyroid if it is used too often. While this myth might make logical sense to the people that hear and repeat it, it is not backed up by any science whatsoever. Multiple studies have been done to ensure that hCG does not have any effect on individuals’ thyroids when administered in the amounts that the diet calls for. However, this does not mean that hCG should be taken every day for a year. Moderation is key with the hCG diet and multiple methods have been used to ensure that the levels used during the hCG diet do not have negative effects on people.

Myth 2: Your metabolism will be ruined for life

Another common myth that we hear in relation to the hCG diet is that after the diet cycle is completed, a person’s metabolism will be ruined, making it much harder for a person to keep weight off or lose weight in the future. Again, logically this myth sort of makes sense. The caloric restrictions of the hCG diet, limiting intake to 500 calories a day, do seem a bit drastic from the outside in and, in most other circumstances, would wreak havoc on a person’s metabolic cycle. However, from our experience, people experience no ill effects in regard to their metabolism after completing a cycle of the hCG diet. In reality, what usually happens when a person feels that the hCG diet “messed up” their metabolism is that after the diet cycle has ended they do not maintain any sort of caloric diet or workout regimen. The hCG diet delivers amazing results, however, it is up to the individual to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
