Your Body Likes Fat

Unfortunately, the human body has not quite caught up with the modern conditions in which we live. Over the course of human existence, it has almost always been in the body’s best interest to make sure that it has a healthy store of fat just in case something went wrong and food became scarce. This was perfectly acceptable when humans were hunter-gatherers or when food was harder to come by then it is today, however, modern society has largely eliminated the scarcity that our ancestors have to deal with. This means that even though our brains understand that storing large amounts of fat is no longer necessary to survival, our bodies aren’t exactly on the same page. It should be noted that while this reason is one of the main reasons that losing weight is so difficult, it is not the only factor. Below, we have listed a few more reasons why people struggle to lose weight.

  • Attitude: It has been said time and time again that the human brain is the most powerful organ in the body. Without the brain on board, it is difficult for people to accomplish most things and weight loss is no different. If you are only on a health kick in order to lose a certain amount of weight or look a certain way, it is often difficult to actually stick to a weight loss regimen. Why? Because, unfortunately, if your brain understands that you’re trying to lose weight, yet doesn’t see results, it is easy to get discouraged. Your attitude about weight loss needs to include some other sort of goal in order to make sure that your mind stays motivated and you don’t give up at the first sign of a struggle. Some great way to motivate yourself to lose weight is to look at weight loss not as a cosmetic goal but as a health goal. Make a list of all the ways you will be healthier if you shed the pounds you are trying to lose and you may be surprised at how motivated you become to stick to your weight loss plan, even when the results may not come as quickly as you would like.
  • Diet: Although our hCG diet program helps to eliminate this aspect of weight loss due to the fact that our patients are told exactly what their diet needs to be, many people struggle to lose weight because they don’t know how to eat in a way that is healthy while still providing their body with enough fuel to function. Changing the way you eat and the types of food that you eat is one of the most difficult things for a person to do. Once your body gets used to eating a certain way and having access to certain foods, it is not exactly happy when you try to switch things up. For permanent weight loss, however, it is essential that you pay attention to what you eat and at least make more good choices than bad. A great way to make sure that you stick to a diet plan is to keep a food journal, pay more attention to the nutritional values of the foods that you eat, practice meal prepping, and make an effort to only eat appropriate serving sizes. Taking these simple steps will, over time, make sticking to a diet feel like second nature, eliminating one of the hardest barriers that people encounter on their weight loss journey.
  • Lifestyle: Like your diet, your lifestyle has a huge impact on the results that you see when you try to lose weight. If you want to be healthy, you have to take the steps to change the aspects of your lifestyle that are unhealthy. First, take a look at your daily routines. Do you take the time to exercise? When you get home to you make a healthy meal to eat or do you immediately go to your couch and try to find some food to be delivered to you? If you don’t change up the way you have been living life up to the point that you decided to lose weight, chances are you are not going to see the results that you want. While we understand that it is not easy to change up the routines that you have gotten used to, there are ways that you can begin to exercise more healthy habits. Even something as simple as taking a quick walk after you get home from work can be enough to kickstart a change in your unhealthy habits.
